Patients with runny nose, watery eyes, cough, rashes, hives, itch, brain fog, lethargy, bloating, abdominal pains, flatulence, constipation, diarrhoea or other digestive concerns and unexplained joint pains may be diagnosed with Allergies or Food intolerances. Causes of these symptoms may be straight forward to identify and treat or clinically more complex to identify and manage. Aside from food allergies or food intolerances, the symptoms may be due to dry skin, exposure to other allergens such as dust mites, grass, pollens, weeds, certain plant/plant parts, mould, animal hair/dander or animal parts, common household products, or personal care products. Moreover, symptoms may be due to exposure to other environmental toxins, hormonal imbalances, gut health issues, infections, stress, medications like antibiotics, other medical conditions or a combination of these factors. Patients with other co-existing medical conditions may have even more complicated clinical presentations. A personalised and integrative approach to their management will be required.
At QIM, our practitioners are trained to address not just the symptoms but also the cause/s of the symptoms, treating the whole person and not just the disease.
